ED2011 1/5 Reviews ED2011 Comedy Reviews
Big School (TTMOOTV Theatre And Film Company)
By Julian Benson | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Allegedly a sketch comedy set, this hour is bereft of any discernible comedy; riddled with bad writing, poor performances, and rookie production, it’s exhaustingly bad. Mixing projected videos with stage acting can be used to great effect; here they step on each other’s toes, with the performers (though this title is perhaps a little generous given the stolid deliveries) pretending to freeze-frame for a mid-scene break, to the video breaking the pace altogether. Basic errors like typos and white font on a white background reveal the sloppy production. Thankfully, the space allowed by this review restricts the amount of abuse I can dole out – or else I’d be bemoaning my experience of the insufferably dire show until the end of time.
