ED2011 3/5 Reviews ED2011 Comedy Reviews
Drags Aloud
By Julian Benson | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Feathers fly, dresses dazzle and nips slip in this evening of songs, dancing and stories. Though not the daintiest set of showgirls, what they lack in coordination they make up in comedy; never quite in sync with each other, this is usually covered with winks to the crowd or a mock look of exhaustion. Miming along to the music isn’t done exceptionally well, though it is passable for the needs of a largely drunk audience. Song transitions are covered by video interludes, which are a necessity for the flow of the show but they are pretty dull and badly produced. Most interesting was that each of the three monologued their story of becoming a showgirl, leaving the audience enraptured.
Underbelly, 18 – 28 Aug, 10.20pm (11.20pm), £9.00 – £12.00, fpp68.
