Funny Women
By Clemmie Hill | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
It was clear to see who was the professional in this round of the Funny Women Awards. The host, Deborah Frances White seemed at home on stage, and was effortlessly funny in both her stand-up and interaction with the audience. She undoubtedly held this show together and brought some hilarity into what was otherwise a distinctly average hour of comedy. Some of the comedians showed potential, most were not nearly as promising. Offering a variety of all forms of comedy and different performers every day, you could easily find some hidden gems in this competition, and previous winners and runner-ups Andi Osho and Sarah Millican are proof of this. However, you might have to sort through the rough first.
Assembly George Square, 3 – 21 Aug (not 8, 9, 15, 16), 2.40pm (3.40pm), £8.00 – £12.00, fpp82.
