James Christopher: Triangle Man – Free (James Christopher/PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Emily Carson | Published on Tuesday 30 August 2011
The beginning of James Christopher’s stand-up show appears to conform to fairly usual standards; a series of scripted yet funny gags interspersed with dialogue with audience members that lead you to believe you’re in for a fairly predictable hour. However, this is not the case, as half way through the act, Christopher introduces the burlesque interlude delivered by Trixie Passion, who whirls through an ‘Inspector Gadget’-themed striptease. The audience are left somewhat baffled before Christopher returns as a French triangle-player. You barely have a grasp of what this character is trying to achieve before the show is over. Good if you couldn’t take a whole hour of comedy, bad if you expect a high standard.
