Rory And Tim Are Free At Last (Rory And Tim / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Julian Benson | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Fresh faced and funny, Rory and Tim drip talent in this hour of unmissable sketch comedy. Taking simple premises and developing them in directions at first hidden, their sketches have legs other comics only dream of. One sketch has a man competing on ‘Mastermind’, his specialist subject: himself. That quick joke is swiftly superseded by the sinister knowledge gathering skills of the Mastermind team: “What side of the bed does Chris Kelly sleep on?” This mid-scene shift is where the real quality shines through. Their informal air suits the small venue but I’d like to see them on a larger stage with access to other staging techniques and transition methods. Hopefully we’ll see this in the years to come.
