Shane And Eddie: Picking Up The Pieces (Les Freres Du Monde)
By Julian Benson | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
A humourless blend of ‘Bruno’ and ‘Zoolander’, this show seems never-ending, and is a pain to behold. The central premise – that a celebrity culture is idiotic and damaging – is hardly new ground, and their parodic approach, whilst appropriate, lacks the laughs that would make their material palatable. Bored of the characters after about ten minutes of their faux fashionista affectations, I quickly realised they are not strong enough to support the show. Maybe a brief foray into their world of bulimia and perfect skin would raise some laughs as a fragment in a larger show, but in this context you’ll be climbing the ladder and reaching for the noose by the second song.
