The Improlympians – Free (The Improlympians / PBH’s Free Fringe)

By | Published on Saturday 27 August 2011

“Can we go again tomorrow please, Mummy?” This was the question asked by the little girl walking out of The Rabbie Burns Café and Bar in front of me. Clearly, in some respects, this hour-long improvised play based purely on audience suggestions had been a huge success. At times it was very funny, and the actors did well to create a play on such dubious grounds. Having said this, it is certainly not the best improvisational act in the Fringe this year, and by no means the funniest. The three actors lacked chemistry on stage, and there was a shortage of the natural humour that there is such an abundance of in Edinburgh. An hour of humour, but not hilarity.

Rabbie Burns Café and Bar, 6 – 16 Aug, 2.45pm (3.45pm), free, fpp91.
