Thirty-seven Ways Of Deceiving You, The Audience, Into Believing I Have Written A New One-man Show For 2011 Even Though I Probably Haven’t, Or Something (Peter Buckley Hill / PBH’s Free Fringe)

By | Published on Tuesday 30 August 2011

Sonnets about fourteen lines of cocaine, tunes about geriatric sex, and anti-matter raps comprise this self-proclaimed ageing comedian’s act. Aside from his unnecessarily long and arguably crap title, Peter Buckley Hill was fairly entertaining. He mixes a variety of genres and is obviously no stranger to performance, commanding the stage with vigour and gusto. He responded well to a variety of good-natured hecklers, handing out a 45rpm record of his Christmas Single from the 80s to the first person to pipe up. To his everlasting credit, he’s a sincere Fringe veteran who even manages to pull off an impressive bit of audio-visual editing. The rest of the audience was more enthused than this reviewer, but then most were closer to his age bracket.

The Canons’ Gait, 6 – 28 Aug (not 10, 17, 24), 6.05pm (7.00pm), free, fpp157.
