Celebration (MCS Drama)

The last play by Harold Pinter: what else would you expect but a weird waiter launching into Hemmingway, Ezra Pound, Churchill and Clark Gable, with random connections drawn to his grandfather. There would be stories of hot affairs behind filing cabinets, with rude Mafia bosses and a lot of never-empty wine glasses. Sitting in a restaurant, three couples and the staff join into bizarre discussions about relationships, leaving the audience in giggly anticipation every time the lights go out to focus on a new scene. Though a young cast seems slightly out of place in a play like this, they make a very good job of it. The stage set-up works perfectly, as well. Believable, provoking Pinter.
