Grim(m) Tales Of The Woods – Free (Louna Productions / Laughing Horse Free Festival)
By Veronika Kallus | Published on Sunday 28 August 2011
Welcome to your German nightmare. A rough diamond of the Fringe, Louna Productions – Louisa and Anna – invite the audience to experience Scottish-German storytelling of the Brothers Grimm’s darkest fairy tales. We all know that fairy tales are not only for children, but the seven told here are not for children at all. Chopped off body parts flying through the air, a father eating black puddings made from his son’s blood, a different and not quite as well-ending version of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’: it’s not for the faint-hearted. The eerie selection of tales is presented in a dark, mesmerising way, and sitting comfortably in a cosy pub in Edinburgh you still feel as if you are walking the dark, cold forest all alone.
Laughing Horse at Jekyll & Hyde, 20 – 28 Aug, times vary, free, fpp267.
