The Dante Sisters And The Dare Club (Room 37)
By Taylor Wallace | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
With elements of French film noir, some of the best props I’ve seen at the Fringe, and seven great performances, what’s not to like? This devised piece follows the story of six sisters from a crumbling building on Rue Paradiso in Paris to the far corners of the globe. One sister was abandoned by their father and wants revenge on the others. The classic game of truth or dare becomes the focal point for their black humour and intriguing physicality, and a vast array of images and settings are created using only two coat racks and red sheets, while eerie sounds come from an old accordion. A truly original piece that explores secrets with silliness and energy – you’ll be smiling the whole time.
Paradise In Augustine’s, 23 – 27 Aug, 1.20pm (2.20pm), £5.00 – £7.00, fpp253.
