The Moment I Saw You I Knew I Could Love You (Curious)
By Alice Longhurst | Published on Sunday 28 August 2011
Pressed tightly together we bob on black inflatable life rafts in the gloomy belly of a whale and watch as snippets of stories and memories are played out before us, moving between the three actors and film projected on a screen. Scenes range from the bizarre gut scan of a brave audience volunteer, to the touching waltz of the elderly couple still very much in love. The whole experience is very strange but has a comforting feel to it, even if we never quite know what is going on. Billed as a performance installation, this unique piece is an enjoyable exploration of love and of human biology, right up to the unusual, although not entirely unexpected, interactive ending.
Summerhall, 22 – 27 Aug, 5.30pm (6.20pm), £9.00 – £12.00, fpp281.
