Constant Craving – Free (Sarah Archer / Free Festival)
By Holly Close | Published on Wednesday 22 August 2012
Ever since she was seven and longed to meet the Queen, Sarah Archer has lived a life of constant craving. Whether romantic, material or experience-based, once she’s satisfied these desires, she moves on to the next crush, gadget or hobby. It seems like a fairly indulgent lifestyle, and ‘Constant Craving’ is a fairly self-indulgent show. Alongside talking about iPads and shoes, there’s a disconcertingly light-hearted discussion about her experience of Catholic Church paedophilia, and a potentially interesting discussion about class politics on Mumsnet which isn’t really developed (bar some patronising references to ”the poor”). There are some well-integrated multimedia elements and Archer has an amiable onstage persona, but her material leaves a lot to be desired.
Laughing Horse @ Espionage, 3-26 Aug (not 4, 11, 18, 25), 4.00pm.
