Ian Fox – Shutter Monkey (Laughing Horse Free Fringe)
By Susan Ford | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
The concept behind Ian Fox’s performance is sound: gather together some photos you’ve taken, add funny stories, and a comedy show is made. But in Fox’s hands the idea falls completely flat. There is little humour and the slide-show isn’t much fun either, a string of pictures from Fox’s home town of Manchester. None of the photos are especially funny in their own right, and the anecdotes he offers up are neither amusing nor compelling. Three awkward ‘advert breaks’ just prolong the agony and add nothing to the performance. All in all, a show that is really not worth the effort to attend.
Laughing Horse @ Espionage, 2-26 Aug, 2.30pm.
