Jody Kamali – Dirty Filthy Rich (Jody Kamali / Free Festival)
By Rachel Aroesti | Published on Saturday 11 August 2012
Jody Kamali was Doug Wigan, seminar leader and businessman of an unspecified distinction, here to teach his audience how they too could become millionaires through a series of stunts, games and one really long PowerPoint presentation. While there were some clever ideas, they were frustratingly few and far between, and as the show lurched from one half-arsed slide to the next, it wasn’t very clear whether it was Kamali or Wigan who was telling the bad jokes. While a more charismatic, or even clearly thought out, persona might have been able to get away with the weak material, Wigan unfortunately was neither. Kamali’s other characters weren’t much better, not least because they were barely sustained over their short appearances.
Laughing Horse @ The Counting House, 2-26 Aug (not 13), 4.00pm.
