No Turn Unstoned (Beth Vyse / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Joe Mountford-Smith | Published on Monday 20 August 2012
This venue is ideal for Beth Vyse’s surreal and slightly disturbing absurdist dark comedy about a dying actress who recounts her story and the peculiar characters she met along the bizarre path of her career. Her style has a touch of The Mighty Boosh about it, and you can tell Beth is no stranger to the Fringe; she’s very much in her comfort zone dressing ridiculously and running around the audience touching people’s heads. The location (in the cinema room of a supposedly haunted nightclub in the old town) is used to its full potential with hilarious and creative multimedia. This utterly surreal show can be crude and is not for the faint-hearted, and it also wasn’t always funny; but it was certainly an experience.
The Banshee Labyrinth, 1-25 Aug, 3.30 pm.
