Shappi Khorsandi – Dirty Looks And Hopscotch (Off The Kerb Productions)
By Andrew Bell | Published on Monday 13 August 2012
Radio 4 panel show favourite Shappi Khorsandi has just broken up with a rock star and wants to tell us all about it. Cue an hour of confessional humour on topics as varied as scat, humping teddy bears and diversity awareness training. Khorsandi pulls off the adult gags with aplomb and the audience loves it, but the set has a tendency to veer more into therapy than laughter when she discusses her ex’s emotional manipulations, knocking some of the life out of the gig. A little more filth and a little less therapy would lift this from a good show to a great one but, as it stands, it’s just a bit workmanlike for a big name comedian.
Pleasance Courtyard, 1-26 (not 13), 8.30pm.
