The Comedy Reserve (Pleasance)
By Joseph Trotter | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Suzy Bennett. Matt Rees. John Kearns. Chris Turner. Four names you may not yet have heard of, and four names you may never hear of again. For this Festival, however, they are the Pleasance’s Comedy Reserve, and they are alright, fine, decent. That’s not gushing praise admittedly, but accurate enough to describe a comfortable hour with a few laughs for the pleasantly dry Rees, a couple of titters for Bennett, a surprisingly good rap from the stand-out Turner and the bizarre, slightly prattish mumblings of Kearns. There is some talent here, though not enough to be certain any one of these comedians really is the Next Big Thing. Though come on, make me eat my words – if you can!
Pleasance Dome, 1-27 Aug (not 13, 20), 9.30pm.
