Urban Fogey (Alistair Barrie)
By Anna McDonald | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
What makes someone an ‘urban fogey’? It’s what Alistair Barrie’s ex-girlfriend used to call him and in this show he explains why. For him, it’s mostly about a lack of respect. By his own admission Barrie is a bit of a “lefty” and it’s fairly obvious from this show; it’s very topical and at times quite political, with references to the Olympics, the Jubilee and various politicians including Boris Johnson and Silvio Berlusconi. However there are also less highbrow topics, such as the weather and an audience-led discussion about tattoos. It’s an odd combination, but it works. You’ll laugh, even if you’re still not entirely clear what it takes to be an urban fogey.
