You Have Nothing To Fear… (Ed O’Meara / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Joseph Fleming | Published on Thursday 16 August 2012
If star ratings were awarded for likeability alone, the gentle and self-deprecating Ed O’Meara would be given a three at least. He might even get an extra point for humbly neglecting the brightly lit microphone on the elevated, far-off stage in favour of standing much closer to the audience on the darkened floor, without amplification. Unfortunately, O’Meara misplaced the only copy of his script at the end of July, and has spent the last week desperately writing a new one from scratch. This carelessness has cost him dearly, turning a potentially excellent hour into one disappointingly slapdash. Please consider seeing him next August when he is better prepared – the winning personality is there, but the abundance of fantastic jokes are not quite.
Opium, 3-25 Aug, 9pm.
