Pete Johansson: Quick Quiz

Pete Johansson

Long-established Canadian stand-up Pete Johansson has become something of a Fringe favourite since his Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated debut at the Festival in 2009, and we can expect another hour of very honest, very funny comedy this August when Pete takes to the Underbelly stage to smoke on his ‘Utopian Crack Pipe’.
But first, the matter of the ThreeWeeks Quick Quiz.

TW: Tell us about your 2012 show in no more than 60 words.
PJ: I call it ‘Utopian Crack Pipe’ because it’s a show that discusses my overwhelming addiction to trying to make the world a better place, and why it’s not the best pastime.

TW: Tell us about another show or performer you’re looking forward to seeing this year.
PJ: Katherine Ryan (at Gilded Balloon Third Door) makes me laugh pretty hard, so I look forward to her dark take on things. Also a festival first timer from the States, Rory Scovel (at Assembly Roxy), who I expect will be quite the sensation.

TW: How will you be preparing for the Fringe this year?
PJ: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for esteem issues.

TW: What advice would you have for someone coming to the Fringe for the first time?
PJ: Once it starts, don’t ever try and calculate where you are financially. Regardless, there is nothing you can do about it.

TW: If your show was an Olympic sport, what would it be and why?
PJ: The Biathlon, as my show likes both male athlons and female athlons equally.

Pete Johansson performed ‘Utopian Crack Pipe’ at Underbelly Bristo Square at Fringe 2012.
