ED2013 3/5 Reviews ED2013 Children's Shows Reviews

War Of The Worms (Richard Digance)

By | Published on Sunday 25 August 2013

It’s never easy performing a kids’ show to an audience of four, counting the reviewer, but father and daughter team Richard and Rosie Digance make the best of a bad lot, pulling us in to a show full of interaction and banter. The songs, which have plenty of pep and silliness, are stronger than the story, which meanders a little and drags at times, even allowing for the small audience. Digance Senior and Junior are both likeable, confident stage presences, but the show needs an extra dimension to really come alive – be it movement, visual diversity or more plot to the story. Entertaining enough though it is, this is not a show that will ever draw sell-out crowds.

New Town Theatre, until 25 Aug, 10.30am.
