A A And A Free (Joe Bains / Russ Haynes / Mawaan Rizwan)

By | Published on Wednesday 21 August 2013

The programme depicts this as a set from three immigrants, discussing their lives in Britain. This multicultural love-in was shattered early on when Joe Bains, seemingly quite without irony, asked a black woman in the audience if she was from Jamaica. His already poor set utterly failed to recover from this, and rightly so. Following him, Mawaan Rizwan gave a chuckle-worthy set, full of insecurities and wide-eyed rambling, then did a little dance for us. Russ Haynes closed the night, offering a trundling set of reasonable jokes about the kids these days and the clothes they wear and the women these days and the things they say. By every criteria, this show is as near to “average” as you’ll get at this Fringe.

Laughing Horse @ The Free Sisters, until 22 Aug (not 9, 10, 16, 17), 10.00pm.
