Michael Fabbri – Buffering (Michael Fabbri / Free Festival)
By Elspeth Rudd | Published on Friday 16 August 2013
This show had some hilarious moments, but felt a little hit and miss, particularly towards the end when a long final joke tailed out into nothing particularly funny. When Michael Fabbri’s jokes worked well, they were very funny, but the level of humour was inconsistent and there were several points in the show where the jokes fell flat. Fabbri had a wide range of material but the title ‘Buffering’ only seemed to be connected to one small part of the show about halfway through and then wasn’t mentioned any further, which meant the show lacked a sense of cohesion and felt a little thrown together. Fabbri can, however, be very funny, so he’s definitely one to keep an eye on.
