Roll It In Sequins (Heffernan And Fletcher)
By Joe Abel | Published on Saturday 10 August 2013
Many people are familiar with office ‘characters’; eye-roll inducing, melodramatic, self-absorbed archetypes; once perfectly reasonable humans cracking under the tedium of the nine to five. The audience’s satisfaction here is derived not simply from mocking these sorry unfortunates, but from seeing them meet one another in a madcap amalgamation of all workplaces; it’s a blank canvas for intense comedy. The setting offers myriad possibilities for these two talented sketch comedians to exploit, and they keep a quick pace, building an impressive momentum, and a gripping, absurd adventure. The vocal dexterity of both performers deserves particular mention, as do their quick witted responses to audience participation.
Underbelly Cowgate, until Aug 25, 3.50pm.
