Sara Pascoe Vs The Truth (Mick Perrin Worldwide In Association With Dawn Sedgwick Management)
By Christopher Spring | Published on Thursday 22 August 2013
Sara Pascoe is one of the best comics around, absolutely no doubt. With this show she attempts to tackle the truth, the absolute truth, giving us a brutal insight into her mind, how she thinks and escapes the world. Using Nietzsche quotes, she offers material that is technically brilliant and well-structured – existentialist in its content but hilarious in delivery. Throughout, you get a feeling that there is a subtext to her words and that something is not sitting quite right. Usually she has a dry delivery that hints at an emotional distance, however, at one point in the show, the mask slips and Pascoe reveals a painful truth that left me reeling. An excellent show.
Assembly George Square, until 26 Aug (not 13), 8.00pm.
