ED2013 5/5 Reviews ED2013 Comedy Reviews

Sy+ (Free Festival)

The show deserves that plus in its title: Sy Thomas brilliantly entertained the largely youthful audience with his self-deprecating comedy. The Fringe regular started with a varied set of gags, and, moving from the theme of arachnophobia through to the topic of pornography, set the tone for what was to be a memorable hour. He hosted two great comedians with very different styles. First up was Joey Page, an act whose looks and comic demeanour strongly resembled those of Boosh star Noel Fielding. The second comedian, and highlight of the show, was a character act; the wine-sipping, barefoot Marcel Lucont, raconteur and bon-viveur. His audience interaction was blended seamlessly with some hilarious material on sexual positions. If Thomas continues to pull in guests of Lucont’s quality, then he has the potential to sell out all Fringe.

Laughing Horse @ Espionage, until 25 Aug (not 13), 2.30pm.
