The Pin (The Pleasance)
By Anita Magee | Published on Tuesday 13 August 2013
Arriving on stage in role, Alex Own plays a comedy expert with Ben Ashenden acting as the apprentice who just doesn’t quite get it. This comic duo seem to have taken the phrase “hit and miss” a little too seriously. Some sketches are brilliantly clever and well executed; producing the kind of laughter that makes you cross your legs and hurriedly look around you for the nearest toilet! The best include a very politically incorrect head teacher, a confused secret agent and an awful riddle teller. However, some of the sketches are silly and repetitive, which is frustrating when you’ve just seen what they’re capable of. A strict director would help knock these boys into shape.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 26 Aug (not 12, 19), 6.15pm.
