John Renbourn (John Renbourn)
By Sam Turner | Published on Friday 30 August 2013
From blues to rag-tag, and on towards traditional folk, Renborn expertly finger-plucks his way to the centre of your heart and back out to your tapping foot. Despite his own admission that he was still getting used to playing again, each song brought with it another incredible round of intricacy and deftness, the notes describing journeys, the melodies’ emotions, and the smiling face giving voice to the characters. While the blues had driving rhythm and the rag-tag a hopping energy, the folk brought to mind the images of the landscape and the stories that inspired it Passionately played and a real delight to watch, John Renbourn is worth seeking out.
