The Adventures Of John Paul Jones (UNSCENE Production Company)

By | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013

This tuneful tale of merchant seamen, pirates and restless souls creates a vivid personal history. It covers Scotland, France, Turkey and Russia, with the musical styles to match. Clever writing, beautiful singing and masterful instrumentation make this a gorgeous live performance of a radio play. The many voices and personas of Janis Marshall Reilly give a narrative dialogue, which matches the story told through the evocative music and lyrics performed by Alan Reid. Completing the ensemble are tremendous musicians Rob Van Sante, Colin Train and Laurie Crump playing guitar, accordion, fiddles and whistles. The size of the group, and their instrumental versatility, represents the vibrant and adaptable sounds that are excellently presented in this enthralling tale.
