The Man In The Moone (Rhum And Clay Theatre Company)
By Jasmine Faller | Published on Friday 9 August 2013
‘The Man In The Moone’ is a piece written by dreamers, for dreamers. Inspired by a book written in 1638 by the bishop Francis Godwin, it is an enchanting tale of a man who dares to hope that he might make it to the moon. Clever use of set and shadow puppetry complement the childlike and unassuming nature of the protagonist during his journey. There are moments where the narrative is a little confused, though this is not unfitting to the whimsical and somewhat surrealist nature of the play. At times it’s reminiscent of a student production, but a very, very good one. This is a treat for people of all ages, especially grown-ups who haven’t quite grown up yet.
Pleasance Courtyard, until 25 Aug (not 12, 20), 3.50pm.
