ED2013 1/5 Reviews ED2013 Dance & Physical Theatre Reviews
This Side Of Paradise (Dudendance)
By Eleanor Lang | Published on Thursday 22 August 2013
I’d be happier knowing that people weren’t sitting through this. A physical theatre piece that set out to explore an apocalypse, but extended no further than an initial exercise for the concept. Waiting for a climax that would redeem the company proved to be a vain hope. It was performed in an old veterinary demonstration room, that made for an apt atmosphere and set. However Dudendance would’ve done better to spend less time collecting impressive props and more time creating something that wasn’t as dull, pretentious and self-indulgent. Perhaps I was meant to go away feeling profoundly moved; but I was just left angry that others had had to pay for such a terrible show.
