Growing Pains (Theatre Workshop)

By | Published on Sunday 25 August 2013

‘Growing Pains’ focuses on two very different takes on teenage life. With highly charismatic and talented actors, each performance evokes high emotions, ranging from laughter to empathy. The first is a playful take on theatre, light-hearted and witty, and the cast work very well together creating an easy-to-watch performance. However, you can’t help but feel that the first performance slightly contradicts and dilutes the second, which adopts a more serious and hard hitting tone, focusing on bullying and suicide. Weighty and well paced, it reveals the pressures that young people face today. Resonating strongly with the audience, “Growing Pains” ends on a powerful and thought provoking note, showing the depth and range of its teenage cast.
