ED2013 3/5 Reviews ED2013 Theatre Reviews
Splatter (Newcastle University Theatre Society)
By Rebecca Lunn | Published on Tuesday 20 August 2013
‘Splatter’ is described as a comedy but, although I can’t agree with that, the concept of the script is still riveting. Three performers play the roles of two actors and a writer/director, but all is not as it seems. As creepy Parish reassures gullible Grace over the delays in their filming time, Webb is not so easily convinced. The performance begins with a shocking scene, which really prepares the audience for the gory ride they’re about to go on. It’s short enough to deeply shock, keeping us flinching with the tense horror throughout, and bitter enough to stick in your mind for hours after leaving. What went wrong? “It was all going to be so perfect.”
