Take Care (Écoute Theatre Company)

By | Published on Saturday 17 August 2013

In a delicate, eye-opening new work of verbatim theatre, ‘Take Care’ makes a damning exposé of the way society cares or indeed, fails to care for its elderly and vulnerable. Disturbingly real and all based on actual interviews conducted with a range of carers, the small cast appropriate the voices of figures across the caring system with breathless authenticity. Nevertheless in need of a few tweaks to stage-crafting and in making the work more visual, this production packs a punch with its intimacy and honesty. If you want a more subtle and thoughtful celebration of Britain’s caring system than the Olympics’ offering of prancing nurses on spinning beds, ‘Take Care’ will do just the job.
