Entries still being accepted for the Amused Moose Laughter Awards
By Chris Cooke | Published on Friday 12 July 2013
Amused Moose is still accepting entries for this year’s Laughter Awards, the side of its Edinburgh Fringe comedy awards programme aimed at more established talent, open to any comedy act with a full show at the Festival but without an existing deal or relationship with a comedy DVD publisher.
Any comedian that fits that criteria, and who will perform at least eighteen shows at the Fringe this year, is eligible to enter. The overall winner, selected at the grand finale event on 18 Aug, wins a neat five grand, plus finalists get to perform in front of key players from across the comedy industry, both in Edinburgh during the Fringe and at a series of showcase gigs at London’s Soho Theatre in October.
The first task entrants must perform is to record one of their Edinburgh previews and upload it to the Amused Moose website. The production quality of the video isn’t important, providing the comedian can be seen and heard. A round of assessment by industry players then takes place before the Fringe kicks off, with further judging occurring during the Festival before the overall final on 18 Aug, hosted by last year’s winner Marcel Lucont.
