Benny Boot: Quick Quiz
By ThreeWeeks Editorial | Published on Thursday 19 July 2012
“Charming, disarming and proper fucking funny”, or so says a certain Mr Tim Minchin, jokesmith Benny Boot takes us to ‘Def-Con 4’ at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe. But only after doing the Quick Quiz.
TW: Tell us about your 2012 show in no more than 60 words.
BB: Jokes jokes jokes jokes…that’s four words down. I’m trying to do an hour of jokes. I’ll be bringing people into my world with these almost like micro stories.
TW: Tell us about another show or performer you’re looking forward to seeing this year.
BB: Joel Dommett (at Pleasance Courtyard). Because he is a news presenter for MTV and he said he’d totes hook me up with Zooey Deschanel. Fucking funny dude and beautiful to watch.
TW: How will you be preparing for the Fringe this year?
BB: Double espresso’s and naivety.
TW: What advice would you have for someone coming to the Fringe for the first time?
BB: Um…like, ask around, ask other punters which acts to see. That word of mouth thing is good…unless it paints Benny Boot in a negative light…then, ah, I wouldn’t trust ’em.
TW: If your show was an Olympic sport, what would it be and why?
BB: Probs some sort of girly floor routine…probably. Leaps, bounds, toe flicks, dragging a ribbon around with a musical backing track. GO TEAM AUSSI!
Benny Boot’s show ‘Def-Con 4’ was performed at Underbelly Bristo Square at Fringe 2012.
