Kafka’s Metamorphosis As Performed By The Actors Of Nowy Teatr Kameralny (The American High School Theatre Festival)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

This play within a play is wonderfully executed and enthralling to watch. Set during the Nazi occupation in a Warsaw ghetto we see actors stage a play showing the metamorphosis of Kafka’s character Gregor. The terrifying portrayal of a man’s transformation into vermin is beautifully portrayed by the talented array of actors and captures the haunting tale perfectly, and the appearance of the Nazi soldier on stage is utterly petrifying, evoking the horrific dangers that people faced during the war. The simple set and small space were used extremely well, and the presentation was as creepy as the tale; a talented cast and a great interpretation, this show should not be missed.

Church Hill Theatre, 19 – 23 Aug (not 20), times vary, £5.00, fpp273.
