The morning after a heavy night, Ezra, the nightclub owner, is found sawn in half in two bins, leaving his underlings panicked and scrabbling around for answers in this gripping black comedy set in the 1950s. The fact that his terrifyingly unstable son, Baby, is wandering around with a cutlass does little to improve the mood. The taut script and faultless acting keeps up the suspense, though there are a few too many meaningful pauses that go on for a while. The comedy double-act of Sweets and Sidney Potts steals the show as they try to deal with the unfolding situation along with a serious come-down. This atmospheric and funny play will easily keep you entertained.

Zoo, 5 – 25 Aug, 9.30pm (10.55pm), £7.00 – £10.00, fpp281.
