Snow White: The Way Through The Woods (Two Shades Of Blue)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

“Skin as white as snow.” “Lips as red as blood.” “Hair as black as ebony.” Told and retold, adapted and re-adapted, the story of Snow White never ceases to enchant us, no matter how old we are. As a fan of the original fairytale, however, I must admit that this adaptation seemed a little too revised. With a parallel story of a boy’s lucid-like dream running alongside the original tale, it seemed the plot became overly and unnecessarily convoluted until their point of convergence. But it was captivating nonetheless, with its most striking feature being the live orchestra, positioned at the side of the stage, which played an inventive soundtrack that breathed a refreshing air of originality into the performance.
