Someone, Somewhere (Mark Stephenson / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Hannah Sweetnam | Published on Friday 24 August 2012
“Us humans, we’re an endangered species aren’t we… like ants” – Lee Ryan, Blue. Award-winning newcomer Mark Stephenson believes that if you don’t know where to begin, you should use a quote, and this is how he chose to begin his set. He used a mix of crude one-liners, political observation and musings about modern technology to hook the audience. The packed room listened while the stony-faced comedian delivered jokes, covering topics from Sir Alan Sugar’s tax returns to KONY 2012, giving brief insights into his own life. The performance didn’t exactly exude energy, but it was an amusing way to enjoy a pint and Mark’s understated performance provided half of the humour.
