Festival Folk At The Oak (The Wee Folk Club)

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

A wonderfully relaxing night of fiddle playing and storytelling at cosy little folk club, The Royal Oak. Running for over two hours, time flew by for the most part. Imparting songs of strife, togetherness and ugly ex-lovers, Ireland born fiddler Tim O’Leary and Cittern master Aaron Jones filled the room with their incredible talent and had the audience’s feet a tapping with traditional jigs and ditties. It was a shame that there was no dancing space, but the crowd made do, by singing along to better-known harmonies. Although there was a rejig of the set, part way through, to combat severe stage fright, it didn’t detract from the clear talent of the two performers and it was a truly delightful performance.

The Royal Oak, 30 Jul-2 Sep, 8.30pm.
