Stefan Warzycki – Bach And After

By | Published on Friday 31 August 2012

Stefan Warzycki has achieved an international reputation as a veritable force within the world of classical piano. Over the past few years, due to an unfortunate neurological impairment, he has turned his considerable talents to playing solely with his left hand. After a somewhat static first couple of movements, Warzycki began to flourish during his own arrangement of Bach’s Chromatic Fantasia in D Minor, and from this point on it was easy to forget that it was only one hand performing the remarkably intricate and complex compositions. Warzycki’s diligence was clear and his command of the material was undeniable, though a true appreciation of his skills would benefit from a much grander venue than the relatively cramped Princes Suite.
